This is a beautiful home stocked with everything you need for a wonderful vacation. Lots of space and very clean. The caretaker stopped by within minutes of our arrival to welcome us and show us around the property. We easily rented a boat from a marina just a few minutes away Lake Glenville is beautiful. Overall, a great vacation. Would love to come back.”

July 2024Summer in the Blue Ridge Mountains
I was born in western North Carolina but never spent much time this particular section of the Blue Ridge Mountains an hour south of Asheville. Our stay at Laurelwood in Cashiers/Highlands, North Carolina was just what I wanted: a time filled with mountain hikes, beautiful waterfalls and relaxing time on the back porch overlooking Lake Glenville. We drove over to lovely Highlands twice. Being from California, this reminded us of a smaller, less congested version of Carmel. Several family and friends stayed with us through the 7 day stay, with various ones popping in for a few days at a time and bringing Southern treats along with them. The weather was pleasant with a few rain showers that didn't last long. Definitely no air conditioning needed! The house is spacious--especially the huge family room with seating for a large number of people. And our dinner for 10 people was easily accommodated in the adjacent dining room. We had fun playing pool on the lower level of the house but didn't get a chance to use the fire pit in the back yard by the lake. Just to note if you have several couples visiting---the top floor has only one bathroom and anyone staying in the queen bedroom would have to actually walk THROUGH the twin bedroom to get to that bathroom. This inconvenience didn't impact our stay, but it's important to note it. If the guests on that level are of the same family, it should be no problem. We found the owner Celeste to be very responsive to emails and the house manager Jim was eager to answer questions. We totally enjoyed our stay and are still talking about those waterfalls!”

March 2024Doors Would not Lock
various doors would not lock advised property manager and he indicated that owner knew the issue. One washing machine was not working. Drip coffee maker, could not pull basket out thus making a mess of grounds. Other than that the property was great. ”

Wonderful ! My family and I had a wonderful week. The house and host were fantastic. Can not say enough about the location and how nice the house was with too many amenities to mention. All we needed was to unpack our clothes. It was also great to come from the high 90's to mid 60's !!! We really got spoiled quickly and hated to leave - We will be back again.”

July 2023Laurelwood
This house is magnificient. It if beautifully furnished and equipped. They have a firepit, gas grill, dock and lake view. From this location we went to Highlands, Cashiers, Brevard, Cheyenne and even Dollywood. Everyone had lots of space in the home and enjoyed the multiple decks and hot tub. I highly recommend this beautiful home!”

May 2023Our stay on Lake Glenville NC
We enjoyed our stay because the location was centrally located to State and National parks for hiking, great dining and a short drive to Asheville for a trip to the Biltmore. The home was perfect with enough space for our guest to spread out and have some privacy. We enjoyed the hot tub, kitchen, dining and living areas that were large enough for all 10 of us. The owners list of recommendations were on point with local restaurants, shopping and favorite hikes. Jim (house manager) was awesome and helpful with all our needs.”

September 2022Fall 2022
This was a great location for traveling to the Highland area and for viewing waterfalls and going on walks in the area. It is also a great location to visit Asheville and the Biltmore. Angie, the one of the owners, was very helpful on our questions and Jim the caretaker was extremely responsive and after discussing with Angie, was able to purchase a gridle and drip coffee maker and returned within the hour. The location on Lake Glenville was beautiful and we enjoyed the views from the decks. The main level has a bedroom, full bathroom, living room, and kitchen, and outdoor decks and seating areas. However, because the house is built into a hill, if someone is not able to do stairs, inside and outside, then they would be somewhat limited to this main level, but there is so much other rooms and levels that are available for the great hot tub and the pool table and dock area. ”

July 2022One of my favorite homes
This was my second visit to this home and have to say one of my favorites. I just love this lake and the home is so comfortable. Met my son and two grandkids here and we rented a pontoon boat a couple of days and the grandkids loved it. Waterfalls all around the lake and the farmers market in Cashiers is a big hit for everyone. Try their bbq... one of the best. ”

June 2022Laurelwood
Laurelwood is a beautifully appointed home with Art work, lamps, rugs and furniture. We were a family of 11 and everyone had comfortable sleeping and bath arrangements. The 3 granddaughters loved the triple bunk room. The fire pit, hot tub, and ping pong/pool table was enjoyed by all ages. There are many, many steps from house to the lake, not a problem for any of us. We had difficulties with internet apparently due to the area. Access to kayaks, rafts and tubes would have been appreciated. Overall, the 4 level home is a gem on the lake and enjoyed immensely by all.”

September 2021one of the best homes on the lake
Would definitely say this home is one of the best on the lake. Well appointed and very enjoyable. The host went out of their way to make sure we were happy. You can sit on a rocking chair for hours on the veranda looking out to the lake. Close to Cashiers too. Found a wonderful clothing store in Cashiers and food market selling local produce and honey ( Try their BBQ too). ”

December 2021Wonderful Family Home
An idyllic beautiful house for family or group vacations. Comfortable and refined decor. Every window view brings natural delight. Large well appointed kitchen for making and sharing meals. TVs, excellent game room, gorgeous lake and the hiking nearby is top rated. Something for everyone. Attentive owners. ”

November 2021Amazing!
The house is wonderful and in a great location. There is so much space and two living areas, which makes it great if you have different families staying at the same time. It is so close to cashiers and only 20-25 minutes from Highlands. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come again soon!”

October 2021Heaven on the Lake
There is nothing lacking in this spectacular vacation getaway, and in fact, much more than you could imagine thoughtful owners could provide. A well-appointed kitchen stocked with plenty of dishes for a crowd, 3 decks with comfortable seating overlooking Lake Glenville, a dock, a firepit, ping pong, a pool table, a hot tub- plenty of entertainment options for all ages. There is also abundant space to either gather together or have quiet time to yourself. And the beds are heavenly! We appreciated the location of Laurelwood as well - only 3 miles to Cashiers and the diverse outdoor activities of the area. All in all, the perfect mountain/lake getaway!”

August 2021Great family getaway!
Absolutely beautiful home and setting. The property is extremely well furnished, stocked, and maintained - the owner's have paid extreme attention to detail. The photos do not begin to do it justice, the house is gorgeous and the lakefront, mountain setting is beautiful. Highly recommend for families. The only less than perfect comment is that cell and internet service is poor.”

June 2021Spectacular!
Cherished time and memories were made in this amazing North Carolina home. Elegant, yet cozy, beautifully decorated, well thought out and made comfortable for guests; this home provided everything we needed and more. The kitchen was well equipped for the multitude meals we made together. The views were spectacular and we were even able to catch a magical rainbow. Located on the water, we were able to dock our boat then at night enjoy roasted marshmallows at the fire pit at the waters edge. The owners, Angie. Celeste and Mary, have created a home that welcomes visitors and makes them feel not just at home, but the feeling of an honored guests. We highly recommend and hope there’s a furture opportunity to visit again. Thank you ladies also for the thoughtful welcome basket! ”

July 2021Amazing home on a lake in the moutains!
Our stay at Laurelwood was absolutely amazing! The home is so spacious and furnished/stocked beautifully for a large gathering of family or friends. We learned while there that Lake Glenville is the cleanest lake on the east coast and we can attest to that. It was perfect with great communication with our host. We hope to return soon and often. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us! ! ”
