A place to relax!

Food was one of the best in all of Cabo! We stay at many all-inclusives and the chefs are outstanding at this property! Room was spacious and new, very nice. There is still construction going on, the place is half built, but pools were fun. ”

Grand Solmar

The property itself was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. The downside (and it was a bummer) was that there is construction happening all around the resort. It will be great when finished but right now you can't avoid views of construction sites. Our room looked out over the pool and ocean but also at a giant sand hill with diggers and construction equipment. The crews started early but also quit early because of the heat. Rooms were soundproofed enough that we didn't hear the construction when doors to the balcony were closed. The resort itself is removed from downtown Cabo San Lucas (they offer free shuttles to their sister property in town) which makes it quieter which we preferred.”

Beautiful location and fantastic food

I've stayed all over Cabo at numerous All-Inclusive resorts. In terms of food, this one is the best so far. Very consistent at all of their restaurants. And the drinks were good too. We stayed in a Master Suite and were generally pleased with the accommodations. The bedroom and bath are one big room connected to a kitchen and family room. The bed was comfortable and the views were amazing. Housekeeping also did a great job. Overall, great experience and looking forward to my next visit.”

Fabulous Time at the Pacific Dunes

My wife and I stayed a week at the Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes in a Master Suite. Our lovely 4th floor location had a separate bedroom with a king sized bed, walk in shower and jacuzzi tub. There was a separate living room with a Murphy bed and full kitchen. Our balcony had a table for four to eat outside as well as two lovely chairs to enjoy the ocean view. Everything was stellar from the front desk margaritas that awaited us as we arrived to the daily "Golden Hours" for special drinks. The property has an all inclusive option, but since I like to cook and we don't eat or drink "that much" we did not select it. Breakfasts at Antina were superb, and the Sports Bar added wonderful ambiance to the World Cup games that were going on during our visit. There is a daily shuttle that takes you to the sister property in the heart of Cabo. We used it and enjoyed the "Land's End " experience. The staff were incredible, the views breathtaking, and the week memorable. We will be returning. This is a great spot for families and for couples who enjoy time to spend with one another.”

Absolutely Beautiful

Very large and spacious property and the amenities are absolutely amazing especially if you have children they will love the pools. You are out of ways we rented a car and we’re so glad we did. Great time in Cabo.!”

Nice but beware of construction

We had a great room with an ocean view, yet overlooked a construction site which got loud at times. Nice staff. Great spa! Great food. Just not as relaxing. Also, the security was over the top. We tried to have our friends visit for dinner with us at the restaurant on site and it was a huge problem. Did enjoy the amazing golf course. ”

Great resort with many extra features!!

We love the resort for the open setting of feeling not crowded, and on the Pacific Ocean directly. First class buildings and pools. Slides and jumping rope let all have an experience of being youthful. Food is excellent, could use more healthful options for Cardio visitors. Staff are very polite and helpful. Being on the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo it is very windy and they would benefit from protecting their ocean front pools from the wind. Overall very first rate Resort!!”

Beautiful Resort

Really enjoyable stay at Solmar. Moved after first night to get a better oceanfront room. Only issue with the room was the sliding doors in the Master Bedroom were badly etched with sea salt and the seal was completely shot. Staff was excellent!! Thank you!”

didnt love it needs work

so I gave myself some time to reflect before posting this review. I do not like to be negative but feel a honest evaluation of the positives and negatives are warranted. First of all I am not a golfer and if I was I would probably feel different as the golf course I am told is top notch. Given that I am not I do not feel that the resort offers enough to warrant a return visit. The resort is in growth mode as they are embarking on a expansion now that the ownership has been settled within the family. It feels to me that it was neglected during the last few years as the ownership got sorted out. The resort has a main saltwater lagoon with kind of a lazy river pool going around it. Apparently people use the lagoon for paddleboarding beach volleyball etc but we never saw anyone in it,If you travel with kids you want to be here if you dont you will definitely not as it is very noisy all day with kids having fun and the units are right on top of the lazy river / pool area. We asked to be moved after two days and they were very accommodative in moving us to the beach / ocean facing which was far quieter. Be aware that you are limited to what the resort itself offers as it is very remote being way out of town and built onto a remote beach area. they offer a shuttle that will take you into town (25 minutes) every two hours. You cannot get a uber and are required to use their taxi service. Of course we were quoted a price by the transportation manager and the taxi person tried to rip us off (prefer using uber for this reason) Since you are captive to the resort you need to rely on their dining options and I this was our biggest disappointment. We had two good dining experiences in our entire week. Very interesting that the food was awful but the Service was excellent in all the restaurants. Main Pool service was horrible and we gave up using it. One nice restaurant on property open for breakfast and dinner and one sports bar open for dinner only. For lunch you had to dine around one of the pool restaurants that all come out of one kitchen was honestly awful. You could go up and sit in the deli and get something made to order and honestly it has the best food as they make it right there. I was there to just work in a warm location so we muddled through but if it was my one week vacation I think I would have been even more disappointed. I think it need a few years to get built out and completed by adding restaurants, getting the pickleball tennis courts rebuilt (they tore them down and have not replaced them yet). if you want remote beach time at the resort or golf this could meet your needs but we will be trying others ”

Wonderful Vacation

Resort is beautiful, 2 for 1 happy hour drinks are fun, and the golf is spectacular. We stayed mostly on the resort though we did venture to Nobu's for dinner and the PGA golf tournament for a day. Room was very spacious. We did endure the 2 hour time share presentation where they put the hard sell on you. Endure the sales pitch at your own risk”

Perfect Vacation Experience

Peaceful Pacific Dunes

Another fabulous stay at the Dunes! The weather in mid July was absolutely perfecto. We took many walks on the pristine beach and lounged by the adult pool….did the stretch class 5 days and joined a couple water aerobics classes. We enjoyed the water slides and the view from our 5th floor room was absolutely gorgeous. The food was divine at Picaro and Anica and we enjoyed the pool restaurants and the entertainment at the Mexican fiesta night.”

This property is about 20 minutes north of downtown Cabo. But, the property is new and the staff is awesome. Loved our stay. ”

Solmar in May

Beautiful Resort very nice friendly staff rooms are fabulous. Pools are great food not so much when recommend the all inclusive. You have great kitchens in your room .Never go in May the wind were horrible and they said it’s always windy and you’re the Pacific side cold wind Husband said the golf course was beautiful, but it was windy so any other month but May”

Peaceful Pacific Dunes

This was our fourth trip to this resort and the service and dining were fabulous as always. Anica is amazing and Picaro is our favorite restaurant in Cabo. We enjoyed dining at the new Sports Bar that recently opened. This resort is perfectly peaceful with no stress on the facilities or struggles to secure a chaise lounge. It is a lovely change from the busy resorts on Medano and Solmar Beach. Our one bedroom suite was beautiful; we have stayed in 2 and 3 bedroom penthouses in the past. We love this high-end laid back resort and this visit did not disappoint. The new head bartender is truly fabulous and we loved the mixology class we took as part of the All Inclusive. We will be back!!”

Nice stay in Mexico

The room was very nice and overall the grounds are lovely and we had a nice trip. One thing to note is that you can not swim in ocean at the property I think because of either currents or sharks or both. So the good news is that there is a sister property in town and a free shuttle between them on a regular basis and you have access there. Also nice to go there as many more food options and shopping near other property as this one is a bit out of town etc. Overall a very nice trip and recommend but some things to know about ”
