Formerly the residence of General James Earl Rudder, 16th President of Texas A&M, Texas Land Commissioner, lieutenant colonel who led portions of the allied landings at Normandy, and the Army Ranger assault on Pointe du Hoc.

This magnificent 6,000-square-foot home offers a truly wonderful vacation experience. Situated in the Southside Historic District, Rudder House stands proudly adjacent to Texas A&M University and the iconic Kyle Field. Guests will be able to listen to the sounds of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band in Kyle Field from the comfort of their home away from home.

The estate features 6 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, including a second-floor guest wing with a separate entrance. A variety of bed sizes cater to all guests, from king and queen to day beds. The living spaces are made for memorable gatherings and entertaining with a 12-person dining table and plush seating. The well-equipped kitchen ensures you can host up to 85 guests complete with table settings. Heated bathroom and kitchen floors add a touch of warmth, while a poker/parlor room, game room, and podcast and creative studio all offer entertainment for everyone. With available daily concierge, driver, cleaning, and house staff - including chef and sous chef, all your needs are designed to be met.

The kitchen has two ovens and comes fully equipped. Enjoy BBQ grilling on either of the two small or large charcoal grills. Utilize the 4 full-size refrigerators throughout the home, and make use of the onsite laundry/mud room and butler's pantry.

The whole house Bluetooth Sonos Sound System, with individually controlled volumes in each room, can make sure everyone is feeling the same vibe whether it’s playing Reveille in the morning :-) or your favorite playlist throughout the day. Special matte picture screens not only offer exceptional high-definition viewing but also rotate art from Renoir, van Gogh, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Matisse, and Manet in the main living room and bedrooms. Ultra-fast Gigabit speed internet ensures you stay connected throughout the estate.

Rudder House has made significant efforts to make sure your stay is not only without worry but also is an elevated experience doing the ordinary with available onsite 24/7 - fee based - luxury transport and SUV use, including:

The property has a three-car garage where the 4 carts are kept, a back driveway that can accommodate 3 additional cars, and a front horseshoe driveway that can park four or more vehicles.

For larger events Rudder House can seat 85+ guests - both inside and outside - at banquet tables with full place settings, chairs, banquet napkins, and tablecloths. Events at Rudder House over 20 people require advanced planning, coordination, a separate event insurance policy, and MUST use the fee-based House Manager ($100.00/hour) as the point of contact. Event fees are custom for each event and based on the headcount of adults and children.

Additionally, and for a separate/additional event fee, the 400-person capacity, 1910 era, Grand Stafford on Main St. in downtown (the oldest building and oldest live music venue in Bryan) can be made available as part of your stay for corporate gatherings. Significant advance planning is required for the Grand Stafford use as it is routinely booked. It is located 6 miles from Rudder House.
