Description

Chateau Les Arcis

Les Arcis is a distinguished country house nestled within expansive, meticulously maintained grounds, offering an idyllic retreat in the heart of nature. Surrounded by formal gardens and parkland, the property features grand mature trees, an orchard, a vegetable garden, and even a small vineyard, reflecting its rich history and connection to the land. Dating back to the 1700s, Les Arcis was once the hunting lodge of Jean-Baptiste Colbert, finance minister to Louis XIV, adding an air of historical prestige to this tranquil estate.

The house exudes timeless elegance, with thoughtfully designed living spaces blending comfort and sophistication. On the ground floor, a wide entrance hall with striking black and white tiles leads into the heart of the home. The fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar invites casual and formal gatherings. At the same time, the expansive salon, complete with a large log fire and club fender, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. Adjacent to the salon is the open-plan dining room, with seating for 10, ideal for hosting memorable meals. A morning room with a dining table, sofa, and desk provides a more intimate space, and a convenient WC completes this level.

The first floor features a spacious study/TV room with hundreds of DVDs for entertainment, a large library stocked with both books and DVDs, and modern media amenities, including a TV, DVD player, Wii, and Apple TV. A cosy landing area with a sofa and baby grand piano offers a peaceful spot to relax. The master bedroom, expansive and refined, boasts an en suite bathroom for ultimate privacy and comfort.

The second floor offers ample accommodation with a variety of room configurations to suit diverse needs. Two double bedrooms with bath and basin in-room provide a luxurious touch, while two twin rooms can be converted into super king doubles. A smaller double room with a queen-sized bed ensures versatility. A family bathroom, a separate WC, and a ‘wet room’ with a walk-in shower add to the convenience of this level. A hidden WC on the stairs between floors also ensures privacy and comfort for all guests.

The property also features an Atelier, a beautifully converted outbuilding that offers a mezzanine bedroom with two single beds, ideal for young adults, and a bathroom with shower and WC. A large games room with TV and log-burning stove provides entertainment for all ages, with a collection of board games, jigsaw puzzles, arts & crafts materials, and a dressing-up box.

Outside, Les Arcis offers a wealth of leisure activities, making it the perfect destination for relaxation and recreation. The heated swimming pool, open from May to September, is accompanied by a pool house and large gas-fired BBQ, ideal for casual dining. The all-weather tennis court provides a space for friendly competition, while table tennis and badminton courts offer additional ways to stay active. Bikes are available for exploring the surrounding countryside, and for sports enthusiasts, the lawn opposite the tennis court features a football pitch complete with small goals and a scoreboard. Children can enjoy the climbing frame with a slide and swing, while the property also boasts three sets of boules for a traditional French pastime. The large terrace, vegetable garden, orchard, and small vineyard further enhance the outdoor experience, creating a harmonious environment in which to enjoy the serenity of this remarkable estate.

Les Arcis is a sanctuary that combines history, elegance, and the beauty of the French countryside, offering an exceptional setting for both relaxation and recreation.
